Jankovic makes light work of Ruano Pascual

MELBOURNE, Jan 17 (Reuters) In-form Serb Jelena Jankovic brushed past experienced Spaniard Virginia Ruano Pascual 6-2 6-2 to book her place in the Australian Open third round today.

The 11th seed, winner of the Auckland warmup event and finalist in Sydney last week, was made to work harder than the scoreline suggests before prevailing in 76 minutes on Margaret Court Arena.

The 21-year-old Jankovic had been knocked out in the second round in her three previous appearances at the Melbourne Park grand slam.
