Japanese grandmaster trains karate-do players in Manipur

Imphal (Manipur), May 24 (ANI): Shihan Yoshiaki Ajari, an 8th Dan Japanese Grandmaster recently imparted training to over 130 Karate-Do players at the eight-day camp organised by the Wadokai Karate-Do Federation of India in association with Wadokai Karate-Do Association of Manipur.

The eight-day camp, which concluded on May 17, witnessed the participation of players from Manipur, Maharashtra and Arunachal Pradesh.

Ajari, who is also the founder of Japanese Karate-Do Federation Wodakai in the United States of America (USA), trained the players at the camp held at the main indoor stadium of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex under the patronage of the North Eastern Council.

"Instruction should be given in right way. Physically they are very good. If they get proper instruction, they can compete well internationally also," said Shihan Yoshiaki Ajari.

"Previously I had lot of problems especially in basics, but after joining this training camp my doubts are clear," said Laurigaun, a Karate-Do player.

The players felt that foreign coaches would not only improve their skills, but also put them at par with international Karate-Do players.

Karate-Do that originated from Japan is a form of traditional Budo (martial way of life). It is commonly thought of as a way to defend oneself from attack. (ANI)
