Utah Jazz forward Jaren Jackson Jr. is set to miss the rest of the season, with the club confirming the recent trade acquisition will undergo left knee surgery after medical tests discovered a growth that requires removal and further specialist assessment.
The Jazz, who hold an 18-37 record, stated that imaging following Jackson’s arrival from Memphis in last week’s eight-player trade showed a localised pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS) growth in the left knee, leading medical staff to recommend immediate surgical treatment.

Before the move, Jaren Jackson Jr. made 45 appearances for the Memphis Grizzlies this season, averaging 19.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.51 blocks. After joining Utah, Jackson featured in three games and posted averages of 22.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
Drafted fourth overall by Memphis in 2018, Jaren Jackson Jr. is a two-time All-Star and the 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, with career averages of 18.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.86 blocks across 455 regular-season games.
