Jarred Brooks Eyes Double Gold Against Mikey Musumeci, Demands Strawweight Contenders To ‘Quit F****** Around’

After winning the ONE Strawweight World Championship last December at ONE 164, Jarred "The Monkey God" Brooks finds himself in a unique opportunity to double his gold in back-to-back fights.

The American can become a two-sport world champion at ONE Fight Night 13 this Saturday, 5 August. But to do so, he must overcome the ground prowess of ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion Mikey Musumeci in Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Stadium.

Jarred Brooks

Jarred Brooks has ascended the strawweight ranks since arriving in ONE nearly two years ago. The Michigan native has surpassed every single test in front of him - including former king Joshua Pacio.

And with one title already draped over his shoulder, Brooks believes he can shock the world against Musumeci. Should he be able to secure another strap, "The Monkey God" is certain he'll be in a league of his own.

"Man, if I can beat Mikey Musumeci at his own game and beat him for the (ONE) Flyweight Submission Grappling World Title, I think that I can start to call my own shots. I mean, as far as going and doing these mixed rules contests and stuff like that," Brooks said.

Itching to win another belt, Brooks feels his divisional contenders haven't done their part to step up and call their shots. The American wants to be the best champion he can. But to do that, he needs challengers to speak up.

"A huge message to every strawweight out there in my division: Work hard, man. I want to fight every one of you guys. And if you guys are f****** around, it isn't fair to me. It isn't fair to my family, and it isn't fair to ONE Championship and the fans. Quit f****** around," he said.
