Jeev 57th in latest golf rankings
Kuala Lumpur, June 12 (UNI) India's ace golfer Jeev Milkha Singh heads a total of 15 Asian Tour members ranked inside the top-200 in the latest world golf ranking following the conclusion of the Bangkok Airways Open at the weekend.
Jeev, who is playing in this week's US Open, heads the list in 57th place while Korea's Yang Yong-eun is ranked 65th. Both players were inside the top-50 at the end of last season after enjoying multiple victories.
Compatriot Jyoti Randhawa is the only other Indian inside the top-100, at 84th spot while the in-form Gaurav Ghei is placed 151st.
Jeev has also moved from a European ranking of 104 to 48 -- the first Indian ever to do so.
Thai star Thongchai Jaidee occupy the 85th position.
Korea's Choi Kyung-ju is the highest ranked Asian in 17th place, thanks largely to his fifth US PGA Tour victory recently at the Memorial Tournament. Choi is a product of the Asian Tour and now plays primarily in the US.
England's Simon Dyson , who is currently fifth on the Asian Tour's UBS Order of Merit, is ranked 79th in the world while China's Liang Wen-chong, currently top of the UBS Order of Merit, is 82nd.
Last week's winner Lee Sung of Korea rose 191 place to 248th in the world.
Other Asian Tour members ranked in the top-200 include Anton Haig of South Africa (112th), Andrew Buckle of Australia (113th), Thailand's Prayad Marksaeng (133rd), Frankie Minoza of the Philippines (167th), Prom Meesawat of Thailand (174th), Chapchai Nirat of Thailand (182nd), Thailand's Thaworn Wiratchant (194th).
