Jeev at joint 9th in the opening round of WGC-CA Championship

Doral, Florida, Mar (UNI) Indian pro Jeev Milkha Singh made an impressive start to his WGC-CA Championship campaign as he fired four under 68 in the opening round and is tied ninth place while SSP Chowrasia shot two over 74 to be tied 63rd here today.

Jeev was three strokes behind Australian Geoff Ogilvy and Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez who are joint leaders after the opening day of the tournament.

Jeev, who was the runners-up at last week's Ballantine's Championship, continued his scintillating form of late and began with a birdie on the first hole.

Though he dropped a bogey on the third, he came up with a birdie and an eagle two on the fifth and sixth.

This was followed by a bogey-birdie on the seventh and eighth.

After making the turn at three under, Jeev began his back nine with a birdie on the 10th. He then wrapped up his first round with another birdie on the 14th and a closing bogey on the 18th.

Another Indian SSP Chowrasia had an average day as he sank birdies on the first and eighth and dropped bogeys on the fourth, seventh, 11th and 12th to finish with two over 74 in round one.
