Jeev at third place after round one

By Staff

Tokyo, Nov 29 (UNI) Defending champion Jeev Milkha Singh returned one under par 69 to be tied joint third after the first round of the Golf Nippon Series JT Cup here today.

The first round leader was Shingo Katayama who shot 66.

On a windy day, the Indian shot a birdie on the first hole but then missed strokes on fourth and the 10th. However birdies on 12th and 14th brought him back under par.

Jeev again dropped a bogey on 16th but fired a birdie on 17th to finish at one-under 69.

Last year the Indian had won the title by one shot.

Intrestingly, Jeev this year has been invited here to play as the defending champion despite not figuring on the Japan Tour Order of Merit.
