Carnoustie (Scotland) July 19: Anything which could go wrong went wrong for Jeev Milkha Singh and the ace Indian got off to horrible start at his maiden British Open, shooting a poor six-over 77 first round at the Championship Course here today.
Jeev, the only Indian in the 136th edition of world's oldest major, made five bogies and a double bogey as against solitary birdie on the opening hole.
The Chandigarh pro will have quite a task at hand tomorrow if he is to make the cut given that he is lying at tied 135th spot.
Meanwhile, Irishman Paul McGinley set the early pace, firing a four-under 67 while Tiger Woods, chasing his third Claret Jug in a row and fourth overall, was two shots adrift after a 69.
