Jets 2025 NFL Draft: Experts Forecast Trade Up to Land Future Star QB

By Tanisha Chhabra

The New York Jets face a pivotal 2025 NFL Mock Draft with the seventh overall pick, and their top priority is finding a quarterback to lead the team after the disappointing end to the Aaron Rodgers era. After years of uncertainty at the position, many experts believe the Jets will focus on securing a quarterback through the draft.

A popular scenario is the Jets trading up to land one of the top quarterbacks available. With a solid roster that includes a strong defense, talented playmakers like Garrett Wilson, and a reliable running back in Breece Hall, the Jets are a few pieces away from being a competitive team. Adding a franchise quarterback could provide the spark needed to push the team into playoff contention.

One possibility gaining traction is the Jets trading up with the Jacksonville Jaguars to select Shedeur Sanders, the dual-threat quarterback from Colorado. Sanders has impressed many with his leadership, athleticism, and ability to make plays both in the air and on the ground. If he falls to No. 5, the Jets could take advantage of the opportunity and address their long-standing quarterback need. This move could provide immediate stability and excitement for the franchise.

However, the Jets may not only focus on quarterback. Some mock drafts have the team looking to strengthen their offensive line, an area of concern in recent years. Players like Will Campbell from LSU or Kelvin Banks Jr. from Texas could be targeted to provide more protection for whichever quarterback they choose. A solid offensive line would help ensure the quarterback’s success and support the Jets’ offensive game plan.

Additionally, the Jets could focus on defense, with players like cornerback Will Johnson from Michigan being a potential pick. Pairing Johnson with the Jets' strong secondary could create one of the top defensive units in the league.

The 2025 NFL Mock Draft is crucial for the Jets. Whether they trade up for a quarterback like Sanders or address other areas, the decisions made will shape the team’s future and help determine their path back to contention.
