Jharkhand staring defeat against J

Jamshedpur, Dec 3 (UNI) Jharkhand were tottering at 133/5 in their second innings after trailing by 77 runs to Jammu and Kashmir's 319 all out in thier first innings on the penultimate day of the four-day Ranji trophy plate group B tie at Keenan stadium here today.

At stumps Jharkhand captain Sumit Panda and Saurabh Tiway were strugging to save the ignominy of defeat and batting on three and five runs respectively.

Though Jharkhand had a good start with openers Manish Vardhan(40) and Ratan Kumar(36) with 64 runs on the board but after the dismissal of Kumar, Jharkhand middle order collapsed before some fine spin bowling of Sameer Khajuria, who scalped three for 19 while Jagtar Singh and Druv Mahajan picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, resuming at overnight 208/3, J&K managed to surpass 300 mark, thanks to half centuries by last night's not out batsmen Majid Khan (51) and Dhruv Mahajan (61). J&K were all out for 319 after lunch, taking a vital 77 runs first innings lead.

Medium pacer S S Rao return with five wicket haul (69/5) while skipper Panda had a good come back after an injury lay off, taking four for 87 runs. But promising spinner Shahbaz Nadeem failed to impress and managed to take a lone wicket sparing 70 runs.
