JNEC 2024: Record Turnout, Gold Medals, and Rising Equestrian Stars
The Junior National Equestrian Championship (JNEC) 2024 wrapped up in New Delhi on December 30 after seven action-packed days of Show Jumping, Dressage, and Tent Pegging at the Army Equestrian Centre. This year's edition witnessed its highest-ever participation. Over 700 entries further cemented its role as a premier platform for nurturing young equestrian talent in India.
On the final day, the spotlight was on exceptional performances across multiple categories. In the Children II division, Akshat Vishnoi and Aadit Ghosh of the Army Polo and Riding Centre jointly won the Best Rider title. The Junior category saw a rare three-way tie for the Best Rider honor, shared by Ahaan Jaisinghani, Ranbir Singh Dhillon, and Arjun Mallaya.

Earlier in the week, the Young Rider category had joint winners in Raju Singh and Anupati Navyashree Sai, while Jaiveer Singh Nagra emerged as the standout performer in the Children I division. The last day of competition concluded with thrilling Show Jumping events.
There Bhoowan clinched gold in the Junior Show Jumping Two Phase individual event, completing the course with his horse Prithi in 27.44 seconds. In a closely contested Children II category, Arshad A won the gold medal, riding Tara to victory in 26.62 seconds, demonstrating remarkable skill and precision.
Reflecting on the championship's success, EFI Secretary General Col. Jaiveer Singh commented: "JNEC 2024 has brilliantly highlighted India's growing equestrian talents, featuring outstanding individual performances and commendable team displays."
He added, "Events like these are pivotal in raising the talent floor, providing our riders with invaluable experience, and helping India edge closer to its international counterparts. Such efforts will undoubtedly translate into stronger global representation and improved results at platforms like the Asian Games and the Olympics."
The team events showcased the collaborative efforts of young equestrians. Chetak Equestrian Sports Academy dominated the Jumping Team events, claiming gold in both Junior and Children II categories. In the Dressage arena, the Chennai Equitation Centre emerged victorious, taking top honors in the Junior and Children II Dressage Team events.
The championship's record turnout and stellar performances underscored the growing popularity of equestrian sports in India. JNEC 2024 continues to be a vital platform for fostering and advancing the country's equestrian talent.
