Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid is facing another challenge with a sinus fracture, as noted by his team-mate Tyrese Maxey. This injury occurred during the second half of their 121-107 loss to the Indiana Pacers when Bennedict Mathurin's elbow accidentally struck him. Embiid's season has been inconsistent, having played only six out of 23 games due to various issues.
Embiid has been dealing with persistent swelling in his left knee and also faced a three-game suspension after an incident with a reporter. His current injury will be assessed over the weekend. Maxey highlighted the need for the team to adapt without Embiid, stating, "You just have to move on and practice when we practice again, and have a next-man-up mentality."

Maxey expressed disappointment as the team was progressing well before this setback. He mentioned that players were understanding their roles and aligning with the coach's expectations. "We know how to play with Joel -and now, we may have to revert our minds to playing without him," Maxey added.
Coach Nick Nurse showed empathy towards Embiid's situation, acknowledging his efforts throughout the week. "He's been in a really good place all week, and he practised all week," Nurse stated. Despite these efforts, Embiid seems to face continuous challenges.
Nurse further commented on Embiid's unfortunate streak of setbacks: "We did a lot of stuff to get up to speed with him. But I can imagine that he can feel like the black cloud is over him a little bit." The coach acknowledged that despite their preparations, unforeseen obstacles keep arising for Embiid.
The Philadelphia 76ers must now focus on adjusting their strategies without relying on Embiid's presence on the court. While it presents a challenge, it also offers an opportunity for other players to step up and fill in the gaps left by his absence.
