Joel Embiid May Need Additional Knee Surgery If Condition Does Not Improve This Offseason

Joel Embiid has indicated that he might need further knee surgery if his condition does not improve by the end of the NBA season. Despite a strong performance against the Milwaukee Bucks, he acknowledged ongoing issues with his knee.

Joel Embiid is considering another surgery on his left knee if his condition does not improve by the end of the NBA season. The Philadelphia 76ers experienced their third consecutive defeat, losing 135-127 to the Milwaukee Bucks. Despite Embiid's contribution of 27 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, they couldn't overcome Damian Lillard's outstanding performance.

Embiid returned to play last Tuesday after missing 15 games due to his knee issue. Over the past week, he has averaged 26.3 points, 10 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in three games. Last season, he played only 39 regular-season games because of this injury. After undergoing surgery in April, he helped the 76ers in their playoff run and later won gold with Team USA at the Paris Olympics.

Embiid Might Require More Knee Surgery

The star player acknowledged that he didn't have sufficient recovery time following his previous knee surgery. He hinted at the possibility of another surgery during the offseason. "I think the straightforward answer is that when you've got something that's inconsistent, at some point, you've got to do something about it," Embiid stated. "We don't know what it is. We're looking into every option."

Embiid further explained that if his condition remains inconsistent or worsens, action must be taken. "Like I said, don't know what it is, but if that keeps being the same pattern, then obviously you've got to try something else," he added.

In Giannis Antetokounmpo's absence, Damian Lillard led the Bucks with a season-high 43 points. He successfully made eight out of fifteen three-point attempts and shot fourteen out of twenty-seven overall from the field while contributing eight assists and seven rebounds.

This victory marked only the second win in seven games for Milwaukee. Coach Doc Rivers praised Lillard's execution of his instructions: "I told Dame that he needs to be an aggressive scorer and an aggressive playmaker and that's a hard thing to do," Rivers said. "I thought his downhill attacks to create other buckets were great."

As Embiid contemplates his health decisions moving forward, Philadelphia will need to strategise around potential changes in their lineup. Meanwhile, Milwaukee hopes Lillard's form continues as they aim for more consistent performances in upcoming matches.
