Joel Embiid Suffers Sinus Fracture During Philadelphia 76ers' Loss To Indiana Pacers

Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid faced another setback after being hit in the face during a 121-107 defeat to the Indiana Pacers. Diagnosed with a sinus fracture, Embiid will undergo further evaluation over the weekend. The injury occurred when he collided with Bennedict Mathurin's forearm and elbow, causing him to fall and remain on the ground near the bench.

Embiid has been plagued by injuries, including swelling in his left knee and a three-game suspension for an altercation with a reporter. He has also suffered multiple facial injuries, such as an orbital bone fracture from a collision with Toronto's Pascal Siakam in the 2022 playoffs and another incident in 2018 involving teammate Markelle Fultz.

Despite being part of Philadelphia's "Big Three" alongside Tyrese Maxey and Paul George, Embiid has only played parts of three games this season. The Sixers have struggled, holding a 7-16 record. In contrast, Tyrese Haliburton scored 32 points and provided 11 assists for Indiana, while Pascal Siakam contributed 23 points.

In Phoenix, Devin Booker scored 34 points while Kevin Durant added 30 in his return to lead the Suns to a 134-126 win against the Utah Jazz. Both players also recorded eight assists each, helping end their team's three-game losing streak. Tyus Jones contributed with 19 points and 11 assists.

Durant had missed three games due to a left ankle sprain. Suns center Jusuf Nurkic returned after missing five games because of injuries. For Utah, Jordan Clarkson made his comeback after seven games out with plantar fasciitis, scoring 23 points.

Grizzlies Maintain Winning Streak

The Memphis Grizzlies secured their fourth consecutive victory by defeating the Brooklyn Nets 135-119. Ja Morant led Memphis with 28 points and ten assists. Desmond Bane added another strong performance with 21 points as Memphis improved their record to ten wins in their last eleven games.

Santi Aldama and Jaren Jackson Jr. each scored twenty points for Memphis. Despite Dorian Finney-Smith leading Brooklyn with nineteen points, the Nets lost for the fifth time in six games. An early third-quarter surge by Brooklyn was countered by an impressive response from Memphis.
