John Kelai winner Mumbai Marathon

Mumbai, Jan 21 (UNI) John Kelai from Kenya won the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon today by completing the race in 2:12:28. He was closely followed by Gasshaw Melese Asfaw, (Ethoipia) with 2:12:33 another Ethiopian Tariku Jufar, who covered the distance in 2:12:50, got the third position.

Talking to reporters Kelai said ''I was prepared more this time and it helped me a lot to win the marathon''. He walked away with a prize money of Rs 31,500 dollars, while the other two with 21,000 and 13,000 dollars respectively.

African monopoly in marathon was broken by a Chinese woman in women's marathon as Yang Ziao Shu achieved the first position by covering the distance in 2:36:17. She got the prize of 25000 dollars.

She was followed by Letay Nagesh (Ethiopia) and Jenniffer Chesinon (Kenya), who covered the distance in 2:37:05 and 2:38:14 to walk away with the prize money of 11500 Dollars.
