Michael Malone praised Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, calling him "one of one" after his historic performance against the Phoenix Suns. Jokic achieved a remarkable triple-double with 31 points, 21 rebounds, and a career-best 22 assists in their overtime victory. This made him the first NBA player to record at least 30 points, 20 rebounds, and 20 assists in a game.
Jokic's achievement tied his team record for his 29th triple-double of the season, bringing his career total to 149. His 22 assists also set an NBA record for a center. It was the seventh time this season that Jokic recorded at least 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in a game, matching Oscar Robertson's record from the 1961-62 season.

"Nikola Jokic is one of one," Malone stated. "I mean, the first player to ever have a 30, 20 and 20 game. I can't describe him, so don't ask me to. The guy is just an incredible player, and when you are one of one in this league and the tremendous history of this league, that says a lot. And there's a lot of good players in this league, but Nikola, in my opinion, is just in a class well by himself."
Aaron Gordon contributed significantly by making seven three-pointers and scoring 27 points for Denver. Meanwhile, Kevin Durant led Phoenix with 29 points and forced overtime with a buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of regulation time.
The extra period began with Jokic scoring on a floater to initiate a seven-point run for Denver. Christian Braun extended their lead to eleven with a dunk and layup as only seconds remained.
Three nights earlier, Phoenix had overcome a significant deficit against the LA Clippers. In this game against Denver, they trailed by as much as 21 points but managed to cut it down to an eleven-point difference entering the fourth quarter.
The Suns briefly took the lead at 122-120 during the final minute before Denver responded with Braun's crucial three-pointer just before time expired.
Devin Booker was instrumental for Phoenix by scoring sixteen out of his thirty-four points during the fourth quarter; however, he couldn't score during overtime. Mason Plumlee added eighteen points along with eleven rebounds for Phoenix.
This thrilling encounter showcased exceptional performances from both teams but ultimately highlighted Nikola Jokic's unique talent and contribution to basketball history.
