Nikola Jokic Proposes Pay Docking For Denver Nuggets Amid Ongoing Slump

Nikola Jokic has called for drastic measures, including potential pay docking, as the Denver Nuggets face a challenging season. After a recent loss to the Washington Wizards, Jokic expressed concern over the team's performance and suggested motivation might be needed.

Nikola Jokic believes that significant changes are necessary for the Denver Nuggets to improve their current performance. Despite scoring a personal best of 56 points on Saturday, the Nuggets lost 122-113 to the Washington Wizards, marking the Wizards' first win since October. The Nuggets now stand at 11-10 this season, having lost four of their last six games.

Jokic, who took 38 shots and recorded 16 rebounds and eight assists, hinted at the need for drastic actions. "I think today and the last couple games were really bad for us," said Jokic. He is now second only to Alex English in franchise history with 14,704 points. "We are really going in the wrong direction. I think it's everybody's fault."

Jokic Suggests Pay Cuts for Nuggets' Struggles

The Serbian star suggested that financial incentives might motivate the team. "In my country, where I'm coming from, after this kind of stretch, you're going to get a paycheck that is a little bit less than you had hoped," he explained. "Maybe that's what we need to do. Maybe a little motivation."

Nuggets coach Michael Malone expressed his disappointment and took responsibility for the team's struggles. "I'm doing a really poor job with this team," Malone admitted. He highlighted his embarrassment over losing to a team averaging just 100 points per game in their last five matches while allowing them to score 122 points against the Nuggets.

The current situation has left both players and coaching staff searching for solutions to reverse their fortunes. The team's recent performances have raised concerns about their direction and potential strategies needed to regain form in upcoming games.
