Jonathan Di Bella, Prajanchai World Title Bout To Headline ONE Friday Fights 68

By Mike Joseph

Kickboxing fans were hit with bad news earlier this year when then-ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Champion Jonathan Di Bella's clash with strawweight Muay Thai king Prajanchai PK Saenchai was scrapped. But after waiting patiently, fans can rejoice.

The superior strawweights will battle it out at ONE Friday Fights 68 for the vacant ONE Strawweight Kickboxing World Championship on 28 June inside Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Boxing Stadium.

While fans were forced to miss the super-fight last time, none were more disappointed than Prajanchai. The Thai superstar was in fine form, ready to take his shot at two-sport stardom on home soil.

But that fell away when Di Bella became ill, rendering him unable to submit a hydration sample. In turn, that forced him out of April's ONE Friday Fights 58, and he was stripped of his belt.

Prajanchai is undoubtedly one of the best strikers on the planet, and his inspirational journey back to the ONE Strawweight Muay Thai World Title cemented him as an all-time great.

The PK Saenchai product asserted himself as king once again this past December at ONE Friday Fights 46, storming through Joseph Lasiri to rule over the strawweight Muay Thai division once again.

ONE Friday Fights 68 won't be Prajanchai's first taste of kickboxing, either. He proved his style can succeed in the bigger gloves after dispatching Akram Hamidi across three rounds. Now, 12 weeks after his kickboxing debut, Prajanchai hopes to finish the story.

While Prajanchai successfully reclaimed his gold last December, Di Bella will also look to retake the belt he was stripped of earlier this year. The Canadian-Italian has only fought twice in ONE, but he hasn't wasted any time asserting himself as a top name.

The 27-year-old holds an unblemished record of 12-0 in kickboxing. On top of that, his two World Title victories in ONE against Zhang Peimian and Danial Williams have separated him from the pack.

Needless to say, the high-caliber clash between the elite duo will have fans on the edge of their seats inside Lumpinee Stadium. And with the vacant crown up for grabs, either Di Bella will retake the throne or Prajanchai will break elite ground as a two-sport superstar.
