Since capturing the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title, Jonathan Haggerty's thirst for gold is far from quenched. The British standout wants to prove he's the best striker in the world. He can solidify his claims this weekend in the main event of ONE Fight Night 16 on 4 November.
Haggerty meets fellow divisional icon and ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion Fabricio Andrade in ONE Fight Night 16's headliner. Both men may hold divisional gold, but only one will leave Bangkok, Thailand's Lumpinee Stadium with the weight bracket's vacant kickboxing World Title as a two-sport king.

Haggerty arrives in this coveted position having knocked out longtime bantamweight ruler Nong-O Hama this past April at ONE Fight Night 9. The victory stunned the Muay Thai world. Nong-O had looked invincible, but "The General" used his underdog status to ignite the flames en route to World Title glory.
"I felt amazing after [beating Nong-O] since not a lot of people believed in me. But that doesn't matter. As long as my team believed in me, my dad, everyone, my girlfriend, and everyone behind me," Haggerty said.
"That's all that matters. You know, nobody else is getting in there for me. It will be me and my team ringside. And we knew we had a hard job on our hands. But we made it happen."
Haggerty also found success in the flyweight Muay Thai realm. But being able to weigh in heavier allowed extra power behind his punches. Coincidentally, the knockout of Nong-O proved to be the first of Haggerty's ONE career.
Now that "The General" is swapping 4-ounce gloves for boxing gloves, coming in heavier will enable him to put more power behind the bigger mitts. And much like he did against Nong-O, Haggerty wants to end the night early in Bangkok, Thailand.
"I mean, I'm looking for another one-round knockout. I'll be perfect, but I'm not going to hold myself to it. I'm going to take my time," Haggerty said. "I know how tough he can be. And if [the chance to knock him out] comes, I'm going to take it and I'm going to take him out."
