Mexican Muay Thai star Josue Cruz hasn't had the easiest of runs in ONE Championship's flyweight division. But his never-say-die attitude has him hoping that the third time will be a charm at ONE 168: Denver.
"Tuzo" meets teen Thai sensation Johan Ghazali inside Denver, Colorado's Ball Arena when ONE heads back to the U.S. on Saturday, September 7, for its biggest show in history.

The 28-year-old was the first Mexican star who signed with the world's largest martial arts organization. He's determined to do his people proud - most notably his father. And while his performances haven't gone his way, the gritty aggressor won't stop until his hand is raised.
"My greatest motivation has always been my dad. He was always a great example for me. I always watched him work and noticed how he never stopped providing for our family. I think he's the best example that I could've ever gotten as a young kid," Cruz said.
"In me, he instilled a 'never quit' mentality. The idea to never give up, to always fight and always accomplishing your goals through sacrifice has helped me the most when fighting and being able to accomplish all the goals I've set."
Before arriving in ONE, "Tuzo" went 17-0 on the local circuit, and he's out to regain that punishing form on the biggest stage in the world next month at ONE 168.
Cruz arrived in ONE in May 2022, competing against former ONE World Title challenger Walter Goncalves at ONE 157. That night, he suffered a setback to the Brazilian bruiser inside the first round.
He had a similar setback against Sean Climaco at ONE Fight Night 22 this past May. But Cruz is determined to prove his worth this time around. And becoming the first Mexican to register a victory in the promotion is a huge goal on his list.
"Being in ONE Championship, being the first Mexican to be signed in ONE Championship I think is one of the greatest victories in my life," Cruz said. "Now, I want to be the first Mexican to win inside of ONE Championship."
