Jr National Squash Championship begins tomorrow

Chennai, Oct 30 (UNI) All the top notch junior players would be seen in action in the Sub Junior and Junior National Squash Championship to be held at the ICL Squash Academy here tomorrow.

More than 400 participants from 19 states, including 123 from Tamil Nadu, would vie for honours in the ten-day long event that would feature both individual events (October 31 to November three) and the Inter-state team events from November three to eight.

There would be 10 categories in the individual event viz, Boys and Girls Under-11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 years, and the Inter-State events which would have four events for Boys and Girls Under 15 and 19.

The top junior players vying for the Boys under 19 title included Maharashtra's Vikram Malhotra and Aditya Jagtap, who along with Ravi Dixit and Ramit Tandom, the top two seeds in Boys under-17, were part of the Indian team that finished fourth in the recent World Junior Championships in Switzerland.

In the Girls under-19 Dipika Pallikal and V Anwesha Reddy were given the top two places.

Upcoming stars Mahesh Mangaonkar from Maharashtra (Asia number two) and Anaka Alankamony (Asia number one) are the top seeds in the under 15 boys and girls respectively.
