Jung finishes 13th in 50m free pistol at World Cup shooting

New Delhi, Apr 8 (UNI) Ace Indian shooter Samaresh Jung finished a disappointing 13th and failed to make it to the final round in the men's 50m free pistol event on the final day of the ISSF World Cup at Fort Benning in the US.

Jung shot 553 with a series of 89, 93, 93,91, 95 and 92 and missed the finals by two points.

Amanpreet Singh Jhaam finished 27th with a score of 544 (92, 92, 90, 91, 93, 86) while Vivek Singh finished 38th with 537 (88, 89, 90, 92, 89, 89).

The gold in this event was won by Lin Zhongzai of China who shot 668.2 (568+100.2) while the silver and bronze were won by by Swiss Schmid Christoph with a score of 659.7 (567+92.7) and Shi Xinglong of China who shot 656.7 (561+95.7), according to information received here today.

In the men's 50m rifle prone event, Sanjeev Rajput finished 49th. Rajput, who had qualified for next year's Beijing Olympics in 50m rifle three position event, shot 584 with a series of 97, 98, 95, 99, 97 and 98.

The gold in the event was won by Matthew Emmons of USA with a score of 701.8 (597+104.8). The silver was won by Germany's Christian Lusch who shot 699.2 (596+103.2) while Nemanja Mirosavljiv (Serbia) won the bronze with a score of 698.6 (595+103.6).
