Jung shoots well to finish 8th at World Cup Bangkok
Bangkok, May 9 (UNI) Ace Indian pistol shooter Samaresh Jung finish eighth in the men's 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Cup here.
Jung shot a score of 678.7 (584+94.7) with a qualification series of 93, 96, 98, 99, 98, 100 and qualified for the finals with four other shooters on the same score of 584 but finished eighth due to a poor second last shot in the medal round.
Amanpreet Singh Jhaam finished 56th with a score of 570 (91, 97, 99, 95, 94, 94) while Ronak Pandit shot a score of 567 (94, 97, 92, 92, 95, 97) to finish 65th in a field of 82 shooters.
The gold in this event was won by Lapeyre Walter of France with a score of 688.7 (587+101.7), silver was won by Bakhtamyan Norayr of Armenia with a score of 688.4 (589+99.4) while Dauhapolau Yury of Bulgaria won the bronze and the olympic quota place with a score of 684.9 (584+100.9).
In the women's 50m rifle three position, Meena Kumari finished 28th with a score of 573 (Prone 195, Standing-191,Kneeling-187), while Tejaswini Sawant finished 34th with a score of 572 (Prone-193, Standing-193, kneeling-186) and Deepali Deshpande finished 43rd with a score of 566 (Prone-189, Standing-184, Kneeling-193).
The gold in this event was won by Mihajlovic Lidija of Serbia with a score of 682.7 (585+97.7), silver was won by Peskova Daniela Slovakia with a score of 681.7 (584+97.7) while Wang Chengyi of China with a score of 681.2 (583+98.2).
