Indian Squad Receives Major Boost Ahead Of World Boxing Cup Stage 2 As Jyoti, Aakash Join Expanded Team
Boxing Federation of India President Ajay Singh has stepped in to ensure Jyoti and Aakash can take part in the World Boxing Cup 2026 (Stage 2) in Guiyang, China. The tournament begins on Monday, and both boxers were left out of the final government-sanctioned contingent.
Jyoti will compete in the 48kg division and Aakash in the 75kg class. Their inclusion means they can join the Indian squad in Guiyang, gain international exposure, face strong opposition and earn ranking points on the world circuit.

Ajay Singh said, “Our foremost responsibility is towards the athletes. International competitions play a vital role in a boxer's development, and every deserving athlete should have the opportunity to test themselves against the best in the world. Jyoti and Aakash have worked hard to earn this chance, and it is important that they are able to compete, gain valuable exposure against top international opponents and further their development at the highest level,” said Ajay Singh, President, Boxing Federation of India.
