ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Champion Kade Ruotolo had another flawless outing this past Sunday at ONE 165, cementing himself as the top dog in his thrilling rematch with Tommy Langaker in the evening's co-main event.
The 21-year-old rushed Langaker from the opening bell, swarming him with relentless attacks over 10 minutes. And while he came close to sinking in a few submissions on a couple of instances, his Icelandic foe managed to make it the distance.

But despite the unanimous decision win, Ruotolo is adamant he gave it everything. "That D'Arce [choke] was super close. That was probably the closest. I remember I got into a really tight armbar, that triangle right at the end," Ruotolo said.
"I'm going to have to rewatch it. I really gave it almost everything I have out there. And coming into the future, I know exactly what adjustments to make to 100 percent get that finish."
For over a year now, Ruotolo has flirted with the idea of transitioning to MMA. And his dream almost came to fruition earlier than anticipated at ONE 165 after Sage Northcutt withdrew from his lightweight encounter with Shinya Aoki.
When asked about it, Ruotolo revealed that he was willing to defend his crown against Langaker and make his MMA debut on a moment's notice versus his hero Aoki on the same night.
The willingness from Ruotolo saw him receive a whole new level of respect from martial arts fans. Time is of the essence for the American phenom, but he's willing to wait a little bit longer to make his debut in 4-ounce MMA gloves.
"I figured as long as I don't get too hurt in the MMA match, I'd have been able to get it done with Tommy as well. You know, I have so much respect for Shinya. He's pretty much my hero. He's such an absolute legend, and he took on such a big risk taking on John Lineker too, switching up an opponent last minute," Ruotolo said.
"I'd like to consider myself as a true martial artist, you know? I don't think I've ever turned down a fight, and I feel like I just love to fight."
