By Staff

Guwahati, Sep 24 (UNI) Local girl Kalpana Choudhury led the Indian charge in the fourth Asian Women Boxing Championship as India won both of its matches on the second day today.

Kalpana found her Kazakshthan rival an easy push over scoring four points in the first round and then landed two more punchs in the second round. By the third round, she was tired and holding on did not allow the Kazakh girl to score any point as the Indian pocketed the match.

The other Indian girl Sarita Devi was even more aggressive. She pulvarised her Vietnamese opponent 12-0. She pounded her opponent in both the opening round picking up six points with a flurry of left right combination. She went through motion saving energy keeping the Vietnamese girl at bay.

The only competitive match of the evening was between Ri Jong of North Korea and Nabndin of Mongolia. In front of a stadium packed lusting crowd, both had a hearty fight and even the Korean girl worn 8-4.

She was little weak in the second round but in the final round she came out of the blue corner with all guns blazing and took Nabndin by surprise with some furious power play.
