Karan Kadam of TVS Racing adjudged best rider

Pune, May 14 (UNI) Making the most of his recent experience in Malaysia, Karan Kadam, a 17-year-old prodigy of TVS Racing, Bangalore brushed aside the challenge of a strong field including his teammate Santosh C S to emerge winner of the Indian Experts Foreign Motorcycles Class in the floodlit inaugural round of the MRF National Supercross championship, hosted by Sportstrek, at the Shahu College grounds here today.

Flambouyant and gritty Arvind K P of TVS Racing, Banglore was the toast of the day, capturing a triple crown in the meet and in the process outwitted all oppostion to keep the company flag flying.

Kadam, steering his TVS 250 FX, displayed his class and skills in ample measure while going over the triple, double and the table top jumps with aplomb to thrill the audience. He won the first moto of 12 laps hands down, to push back the challenge of local lad Yogesh Barguje piloting Honda CR 450 cc and Eeshan Lokhande also of Pune riding Yamaha YZ 250cc.

The main challenger Santosh C S, who had a fall in the eight lap while going over the triple jump, managed to claim 10 points in the first moto.

However, Kadam was piped at the post by his teamamate Satosh C S, using the same machine TVS 250 FX, to finish at the top. Both Kadam and Barguje had to be conetent with the second and third placings.

Kadam with his 1-2 position aggregated a tally of 37 points to be the champion, while Barguje was placed second overall with a tally of 32 points and Santosh was placed third with a tally of 30 points.

Kadam was adjudged the rider of the meet was richer by Rs 12,000 by bagging the winners' prize money from the total stake of Rs 1.5 lakh at the stake in the opening round of the six round championship.

The championship this year has lost some of its glitter and glitz in the absence of last year's overall national champion Vijay Kumar of the TVS Racing, who has decided to give up racing.

Gutsy Snehal Chavan of Pune came under the spotlight by bagging a profitable double in the meet. Chavan, riding Yamaha RX 135, won the Local Class for bikes 110cc upto 250cc getting the better of Pinkesh Thakkar of Pune riding on RX 100 and Vishal Barguje, riding TVS Shaolin, who had to be content with second and third placings.

Chavan had earlier won the top honours in the above 125 cc upto 250 cc class and in the process, completed a double and claimed the Pune Mayors trophy.

Satosh C S also went on to win the Indian Experts Group B Class for bikes above 80 cc upto 150 cc to make ample amends.
