Karnataka force draw chasing 438, TN gain three points

Chennai, Nov 26 (UNI) The four-day Elite Group A Ranji Trophy superleague cricket match between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka ended in a draw at the M A Chidambaram stadium here today.

Set to score a daunting 438 for an outright win, Karnataka finished scored just 170 losing three wickets in 68 overs.

Team India ODI star Robin Uthappa (30, 26 balls, 6x4) shone briefly with the bat before Shinde (35, 72 balls, 3x4) and C Raghu (66 not out, 195 balls,10x4) played a dogged innings to ensure that honours were even and Tamil Nadu did not get an outright win which the hosts needed to boost their points tally.

Tamil Nadu could gain just three points for first innings lead while and Karnataka got one to increase their tally to eight from three matches. Tamil Nadu have four from an equal number.

Earlier, the home team, resuming their second innings at 186 for six, added 51 runs before declaring their second innings closed at 237 for nine in 73.3 overs.

R Srinivasan remained unbeaten on 50 (106 balls, 8x4). Tamil Nadu had a first innings lead of 200 runs and chose to bat again, instead of enforcing the follow-on.
