Karnatka lifts the trophy for power-lifting

Kurukshetra, Feb 20 (UNI) Karnataka team lifted the trophy for power-lifting while the Uttar Pradesh (East) lifted the weightlifting trophy on the concluding day of the 6th All India BSNL Weight-Lifting, Power-Lifting and Best Physique Tournament 2006-07 in the sports complex of Dronacharya stadium here today.

In the events of Best Physique for eight different categories of 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90 +90 kg, Mr Satish Chandra from Haryana was declared ''Mr BSNL'' for the year 2006-07.

About 150 players from 19 states of the country participated in the four-day event.

In weightlifting, Uttar pradesh got the first position and MTNL Delhi was second.

Suneel Sharma of Jammu and Kashmir was adjudged the best Lifter of the championship.

In power-lifting, Karnatka and the MTNL, Delhi secured first and second positions respectively while Mr Wimal Raj of Tamil Nadu was declared the Strong Man of the event.
