Karthikeyan ready to bounce back in Sydney

By Staff

Sydney, Jan 31: After a 10th spot finish in the Sprint race format in Taupo, New Zealand, A1 Team India will compete here on February 3.

Karthikeyan was not able to complete the Feature race at Taupo when his car was hit from behind and damaged badly. However, his 10th spot finish earned A1 Team India one point, taking its total to 28. They now occupy the ninth position in the Championship.''I look forward to a good race in Sydney. We faced several challenges at New Zealand which offered a good learning experience for the team and we are now looking forward to pick up momentum and move further up the grid,'' Karthikeyan said.

''We tend to have a lot of Indian fans at the races in Australia and I would like to give them something great to take home with them this weekend.'' Karthikeyan, who took part in the A1GP pre-race driver's activity at today was the object of much local media hype and fan following, was taken to the Sydney Wildlife World in Darling Harbour along with ten other drivers for an encounter with some of Australia's most famous native and 'dangerous' creatures.

''It was a great experience to get hands on with some of Australia's most dangerous animals. There were various snakes, lizards and of course the famous koala bears. It is great to see so much local support and Indian fan following when we are so far away from home,'' he said.
