Kawhi Leonard, the Los Angeles Clippers' small forward, is optimistic about his recovery from a knee injury. He missed the last eight games of the 2023-24 season due to inflammation in his right knee and most of the playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks. After undergoing surgery, Leonard has been focusing on strengthening his knee during training camp in Hawaii.
Leonard, aged 33, emphasises patience in his recovery process. He understands the importance of not rushing back into competitive play or consecutive games. "I feel good. [I have] just been taking my time, getting stronger and getting ready," he stated during a pre-season game against the Golden State Warriors, which he did not participate in.

The Clippers' star played 68 regular-season games last year, marking his highest participation since the 2016-17 season. While Leonard aims to play as much as possible this season, his primary focus is on staying fit for crucial moments. "This is what I work for," he expressed. "I strive to get a championship."
Leonard acknowledges that playing all 82 games isn't his sole objective; winning is. Despite wanting to play regularly, he prioritises maintaining fitness for key stages of the season. "I'm trying to win, even though [playing as much as I can] that's obligated for me," he said.
The Clippers are taking a cautious approach with Leonard's return. Discussions about managing back-to-back games will be addressed when necessary. "We're just taking it slow, day by day," Leonard explained about his gradual return to the court.
Leonard's determination remains strong despite setbacks in recent post-seasons. His focus is on achieving success with the team while ensuring personal health and readiness for pivotal games ahead.
