KCA denies allegations of financial fraud

Kochi, Oct 5 (UNI) Denying allegations of financial misappropriations against Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), its President T R Balakrishnan today termed the allegations as 'baseless' and an effort to tarnish the image of the association.

Addressing newspersons after a KCA Central Council meeting here, Mr Balakrishanan said '' allegations that there were financial misappropriations in the purchase of land for constructing a stadium and a bowling machine were baseless and engineered by those who wanted to tarnish the image of the cricket association.'' In the meeting, KCA had decided to impose a two-year ban on four under-22 players-- Sachin Baby, Shiva Pramod, Abdul Samad and Deepak Murali -- for furnishing false birth certificates.

The meeting also decided to include former State Ranji team captain K N Ananthapadmanabhan and B Ajithkumar in the Ranji umpire's panel, Mr Balakrishnan said.

A fast-track committee was constituted to study on the modalities of constructing an international stadium in Kochi, he added.
