Kerala bags overall team championships

Puducherry, Jan 30: Kerala with 52 points bagged the overall team championships in the 8th national mountain biking competition, which concluded here last evening.

Karnataka finished runners-up with 36 points. Kerala girls Jeziya Varghese and Sayona bagged the gold and silver in the ten km cross country under 17 event, while another Kerala rider Rajani bagged the bronze in the 20 km cross country in the women category yesterday.
Results: 25 km cross country (men) Sabu Kanitkar (Railways) gold 58 m and 48 sec, Balwinder Singh (Chandigarh) silver 59 m 23 sec, Lakkappa Khurani (Ktka) bronze 1 hr and 2 min.

20 km cross country (women) Neelamma (Ktka) gold 57 m 12 sec, Gulbir Kaur (Chandigarh) silver 58 m 12 sec, Rajani (Ker) 59 m 05 sec.

15 km cross country (boys under 17) Sahil (Chandigarh) gold 37 m 02 sec, Francis (Mah) silver 37m 34 sec, Nandu Vijayan (Ker) bronze 38 m 57 sec.

10 km cross country (girls under 17) Jeziya Varghese (Ker) gold 30 m 39 sec, Sayona (Ker) silver 30.40 sec, K Gowthami (AP) bronze 31 m 23 sec.

Puducherry Education Minister M O H F Shajahan gave away the medals.
