Kevin Durant Eyes Fourth Olympic Gold, Downplays Scoring Record

Kevin Durant, now the USA's all-time leading scorer at the Olympics, emphasizes his goal of winning a fourth consecutive gold medal in Paris over personal achievements. Despite surpassing Lisa Leslie's record, Durant remains focused on team success.

Kevin Durant is focused solely on winning a fourth consecutive gold medal with the United States at the Paris Olympics. The 35-year-old recently became the USA's all-time leading scorer at the Olympics, surpassing Lisa Leslie's record of 488 points during their 122-87 victory over Brazil. Despite this achievement, Durant downplayed its significance, stating that another player will likely break it in the future.

LeBron James praised Durant's performance and believes there is more to come from him. "He's incredible. He was born to play ball and he's simply incredible," James said. "I'm happy for him. Congratulations to him. I'm super proud of him. And he's got more to go." James had to leave the game briefly during the third quarter after taking an elbow to the face from Georginho De Paula but reassured fans he was fine and ready for the semi-final.

Durant: Gold Over Records

Durant emphasised his primary goal is winning another gold medal rather than individual accolades. "Records are meant to be broken, so somebody will come along and do the same to me," Durant said. "My focus is on trying to win this gold." His commitment underscores his dedication to team success over personal milestones.

Meanwhile, Jayson Tatum, who was part of the Tokyo championship team, warned against complacency despite Team USA being close to a fourth straight gold medal. "Everybody expects us to win. But you don't take things for granted, right?" Tatum said. He highlighted that knockout competitions are unpredictable and different from playoff series where teams have multiple chances.

Team USA will face Nikola Jokic's Serbia in the semi-finals, a team they have already defeated in the group stages. This upcoming match is crucial as it determines their path to securing another gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

James also addressed concerns about his health after receiving treatment during the game. "I'm all right. Got hit with an inadvertent elbow around the eye," he stated, assuring fans of his readiness for the next match.

The team's journey continues as they aim for another Olympic triumph, with each player contributing towards their collective goal of victory in Paris.
