Khelo India Youth Games 2023: Tamil Nadu Claims 2 Golds; West Bengal, Delhi Secure 1 On Opening Day

The 6th Khelo India Youth Games 2023 kicked off with Tamil Nadu securing two gold medals on the opening day. At the Rajarathinam stadium, twins Devesh K and Sarvesh K claimed the first gold in Yogasana Rhythmic Pair boys' category, while Megha Maity and Urmee Samata of West Bengal secured the title in the girls' section.

In table tennis at TNPESU Table Tennis hall, Anbless Gowin N bagged the boys' Epee gold, defeating Zenith SH of Manipur 15-11. Meanwhile, Delhi's Khanak Kaushik triumphed over Himanshi Negi of Haryana 15-9, securing the gold in girls' Sabre Fencing.

The hosts also earned a bronze in the Yogasana Arena as Oviyea C and Shivani D accumulated 128.32 points in the girls' Rhythmic Pairs event. In girls' Sabre Fencing, Jefarlin JS claimed the bronze. The Games, held in South India for the first time, commenced on a high note after a grand opening ceremony.

Devesh and Sarvesh exhibited exceptional coordination, winning the Rhythmic Pair event with a score of 127.89 points. West Bengal's Avarjit Saha and Nil Sarkar secured the silver medal with 127.57 points, while Maharashtra's Khush Ingole and Yadnesh Wankhede took the bronze with 127.20 points.

The host state, Tamil Nadu, celebrated a promising start to the event, with athletes showcasing skill and determination on the inaugural day of the Khelo India Youth Games.
