Galle, Aug 1 (UNI) India coach Gary Kirsten wants his wards to go for the kill and skittle out the Sri Lankans as early as possible to take a first innings lead in the second Test here tomorrow.
''It's a close Test at the moment. We will try to bowl out Sri Lanka in another 50-60 runs and take a lead. We need to post a big score in the second innings. The wicket is offering turn and that is good for India (as Sri Lanka will bat the fourth innings),'' Kirsten told mediapersons after the end of the day's play.
The former Proteas opener praised Lankan spin sensation Ajantha Mendis who has troubled Indian batsmen ever since bursting onto the international scene at the Asia Cup.
''He has bowled well. Although he is not too experienced, he hits the good areas. He has been quite consistent as well. It's important for the batsmen to get into it and understand how to play him,'' Kirsten said.
''Hopefully we will sort him out soon,'' he added.
