Kishan Gangolli jumps to sole lead

Coimbatore, Feb 2 (PTI) Third seed Kishan Gangolli ofKarnataka jumped to sole lead after overcoming a firmchallenge from Gujarat''s Darshan Patel in the sixth round ofthe National-B Chess Championship for the Blind here today.

Gangolli now has five-and-a-half points in his unbeatenrun and is followed by four international players -- secondseed and world team individual gold medallist Krishna Udupa,three time national champion Rajesh Oza, 2000 Poland OlympiadBronze medallist Madan Bagyatkar and Shirish Patil -- who allare tied with five points.

The tournament is being jointly organised by the AllIndia Chess Federation for the Blind and the Giants Group ofCoimbatore (Federation IV ) at Bharathiar University.

Reigning national champion and top seed Darpan Inani ofGujarat was in the joint third spot with four-and-a-halfpoints.

Six others -- Darshan Patel, Ashvin Makwana, GauravGadodia, Swapnil Shah, ST Sai Krishna and KM Shashidhar --share the space with him.
