Klose doubtful for Germany's Wembley friendly
BERLIN, Aug 19 (Reuters) Miroslav Klose is doubtful for Germany's international friendly against England at Wembley on Wednesday after he suffered a knee injury in Bayern Munich's 4-0 win over Werder Bremen.
Klose, the top scorer at the 2006 World Cup, was substituted at half-time in Saturday's victory at the Weserstadion.
''He has a lot of pain,'' Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld told reporters. ''He's very doubtful for Wednesday.'' Germany will definitely be without midfielder Sami Khedira, the VfB Stuttgart player who had been hoping to make his full international debut against England.
The 20-year-old suffered a foot injury in Stuttgart's 3-1 defeat by Hertha Berlin yesterday and he has pulled out of the squad.
Injuries mean Germany coach Joachim Loew will be missing most of his first-choice team.
The coach will have to do without captain Michael Ballack, forwards Mario Gomez, Lukas Podolski and Jan Schlaudraff, midfielders Torsten Frings and Tim Borowski and full-backs Marcell Jansen and Clemens Fritz.
