New York Knicks Finalise Four-Year, $150 Million Extension For Mikal Bridges

The New York Knicks have agreed to a four-year, $150 million contract extension with forward Mikal Bridges. This deal ensures team continuity and keeps the core intact through the 2029-30 season.

The New York Knicks have secured forward Mikal Bridges with a four-year contract extension worth $150 million, as reported by ESPN's Shams Charania. This agreement falls just short of the maximum $156 million he was eligible for. The deal could keep Bridges with the team until the 2029-30 season, ensuring stability within the Knicks' core lineup.

Bridges, along with teammates Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and OG Anunoby, forms a solid foundation for the Knicks. Towns is also eligible for an extension this offseason but has a player option for the 2027-28 season. Bridges is known for his versatility and durability, having played 556 consecutive regular-season games in the NBA.

Knicks Secure Mikal Bridges with Extension

Bridges began his career as a role player with the Phoenix Suns before being traded to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Kevin Durant. In Brooklyn, he took on more offensive duties and averaged over 20 points per game. The Knicks acquired him last year by trading five first-round picks to the Nets.

Despite some struggles with three-point shooting, Bridges managed to average 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists last season. His performance contributed to the Knicks' impressive 51-win season and their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 25 years.

The Knicks are aiming to build on last season's success by making strategic changes beyond their core players. Mike Brown has replaced Tom Thibodeux as head coach, bringing fresh leadership to the team. Additionally, New York strengthened its bench by signing free agents Guerschon Yabusele and Jordan Clarkson.

The team's focus remains on maintaining its competitive edge while integrating new talent into its roster. With these adjustments and Bridges' commitment secured, the Knicks are poised to continue their pursuit of success in upcoming seasons.
