Kolkata's Chirag to clash against Vasco in Goa leg SDNFL tomorrow
Duler, Mar 1 (UNI) Vasco sports club will begin their campaign against Kolkatas's Chirag United in the opening match of the Goa leg of second Division National Football league(SDNFL) which will kick off from tomorrow at Duler ground Mapusa.
Both the teams appeared to be well balanced side with two foreigners in each side and will go all out for the win, but Vasco is looking to capitalise on home advantage.
Vasco coach Shabir Ali said his team is mainly a mixture of youth and experience. Though his team was clubbed in a tough group consisting of State bank of Tranvacore(SBT), Punjab Police, ONGC,South East Central Railway(SECR) and Chirag United, they are prepared to quell the opponent's challenge.
The coach said his team did not have stars but have few experienced players besides two Nigerian Emanuel Oluwasum and Badra Kale Ibrahim, who will spearhead the attack. Other key players are Roberto Fernandes, goalkeeper Laximikant Kuttimani, midifielders Minino Fernandes, Remedios Barreto, Rovan Pereira, Alvito Rodrigues and Sujay Mondal.
''We will try our best to qualify from the cluster stage,'' Mr Ali added.
On the other hand, Chirag United placed 4th in the Kolkata's league too looks equally balanced with two foreigners- Liberian Theo and Nigerian Francis, both forwards.
The other key players include captain Crispan Chettri, Jitan Roy, Malsawama, Sanjay Parte and Amardeep Singh on whom the visitors are heavily depending on to deliver the goods.
Coach Amol Dutt said his team's first aim is to collect full points tomorrow, though it will be a tough job, as teams like Vasco, SBT, Punjab Police have already played in the 1st division, but his team is fully prepared to quell the challenge.
The first three top teams in each cluser will qualify for the final round to be played in Kerala.
