Kozhikode, Aug 2: As many as 300 players, including many grand masters from various part of the country are expected to participate in the S K Pottekkat Gold Medal Fide-rated All India Open Chess Tournament-2007 beginning here on August 7.

Some of the IM and GM norm players who have confirmed their participation includes Sompalik, R R Lakshman, Balasubramanian, K Ratnakaran, G N Gopal, O T Anil Kumar, Nimmi A George, Saritha, M B Muraleedharan, E P Nirmal and P K Konkuvel, general convenor P M V Panicker told reporters here today.

Kozhikode Corporation Mayor M Bhaskaran would inaugurate the seven-day Rs one lakh prize money event, he added.
