KP, England top stars may boycott Champions Trophy in Pakistan

By Staff

London, July 25 : England batsman Kevin Pietersen and some of his fellow players are likely to boycott the Champions Trophy in Pakistan because of security fears.

According to The Sun, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has already told the International Cricket Council (ICC) that it will be sending a team of second string players to participate in the tournament, which is being promoted as a mini-World Cup.

Australia is also likely to withdraw.

Players' union chief Sean Morris said: "The word from Australia is the whole squad might not go. If England and Australia don't take part, the event becomes a bit Vauxhall Conference."

England, Australia and New Zealand all voted against the tournament being staged in Pakistan. But the Asian bloc countries ensured it stayed there.
