Kristoffer Reitan Clinches First PGA Tour Win At Truist Championship
Kristoffer Reitan secured a first PGA Tour title at the Truist Championship, closing out a tense final round to win by two shots over Rickie Fowler and Nicolai Hojgaard. Reitan signed for a two-under 69 on Sunday, which took the Norwegian to 15-under overall and clear of the chasing trio after a tight contest.
Overnight leader Alex Fitzpatrick had started the final round in control but faded with a two-over score, which allowed Fowler and Hojgaard to move ahead of Fitzpatrick on the leaderboard. Fowler finished with a six-under round and Hojgaard with a three-under card, yet both still ended two strokes behind Reitan’s winning total at Truist Championship.

Tommy Fleetwood joined a group of three players sharing fifth place after another steady week, while Masters champion Rory McIlroy ended further back. McIlroy closed the event in a tie for 19th, finishing 10 shots adrift of Reitan, who delivered the decisive performance among the leading contenders on the final day.
Speaking to Sky Sports after lifting the trophy, Reitan described the emotional weight of the moment. Reitan said: "A tremendous amount of relief and joy. I can't put it into words, to be honest. Even today, I wasn't quite expecting to walk away with the win, even though I was in a good position. My only goal for today was to free it up as much as I could, to allow myself to hit good shots, and I'm just so glad that I kept that focus the whole way through."
Reitan reflected on difficult early seasons on the DP World Tour, where results were poor and the playing card was lost, and explained how that setback had become an important stage in development. Reitan said time away from constant competition allowed a reset and a clearer view of strengths and style, which then supported a return to higher-level play and this PGA Tour breakthrough.
Fitzpatrick, aged 27 and the younger brother of former U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick, admitted feeling mixed emotions after slipping from the lead near the finish. Fitzpatrick said: "It's still very surreal. I still haven't woken up, which I think is a good thing! I feel like it's crazy to be disappointed, but somehow, I'm a little disappointed, he said. I felt like I didn't play that bad, I got off to a slow start and got unlucky with a few breaks. That's the game and I'm happy to see Kris win. He played really, really well today and hopefully mine is another time."
The Truist Championship therefore ended with a first PGA Tour victory for Reitan, secured against experienced names including Fowler, Hojgaard, Fleetwood and McIlroy. The result highlighted Reitan’s progress after earlier setbacks on the DP World Tour and underlined the close margins at the top level, with several players in contention before Reitan closed the tournament out.
