KSCA promises better facilities to umpires

Bangalore, Nov 25 (UNI) Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) today promised better facilities and remuneration to umpires from the state.

Speaking at the 'ACUK-Shriram Group Umpires Day' function here, KSCA President Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar said the Association would respond positively to the umpires' demand for hike in remuneration.

He said the KSCA would consider providing office accommodation to Association of Cricket Umpires Karnataka (ACUK) in the premises of Chinnaswamy stadium here.

KSCA Secretary Brijesh Patel said the umpires should be extra careful while giving decisions. They should possess the highest-level of alertness.

''Mistakes will happen, but they should be minimised as lowest-level possible as it involved the future of young cricketers,'' he opined.

ACUK President Ravi Subramanium said the association had decided to educate school students on how the 'Gentleman's Game' should be played.

''We will speak to senior cricketers from club to state-level to create a congenial atmosphere on the field,'' he said.

International Umpire (retd) Ronald D'Souza was the guest of honour.
