K'taka to take on Kerala in Subbaiah Pillai Tourney
Hyderabad, February 9 (UNI) Karnataka will take on Kerala in the South Zone Inter State One Day Tournament for K S Subbaiah Pillai Trophy which will be held here from February 10 to 16.
V V S Laxman, who will lead hosts Hyderabad, is confident of putting up a good show as his team narrowly missed the semi-final berth. Personally it is a crucial event where he would want to score big runs and impress national selectors.
On the other hand, Ranji Trophy semifinalist Karnataka will be playing without the services of Robin Uthappa who is on national duty. The team had intense nets session under the supervision of coach and former Indian paceman Venkatesh Prasad.
In the absence of Dinesh Karthik, who is on national duty, Tamil Nadu pin their hopes on Badrinath.
Andhra which surprised many a team and almost made it to the semifinals of Ranji Trophy hopes to put up good show in the one day tournament.
Schedule: February 10: First Round: Hyderabad Vs Goa, Andhra Vs Tamil Nadu and Karnataka Vs Kerala.
February 11: Second Round: Hyderabad Vs Tamil Nadu, Andhra Vs Kerala and Karnataka Vs Goa.
February 12: Rest Day February 13: Third Round: Hyderabad Vs Andhra, Karnataka Vs Tamil Nadu and Goa Vs Kerala.
February 14: Fourth Round: Hyderabad Vs Kerala, Andhra Vs Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Vs Goa February 15: Rest Day February 16: Fifth Round : Hyderabad Vs Karantaka, Andhra Vs Goa and Tamil Nadu Vs Kerala.
