NBA: Kyrie Irving to miss Bulls game with quad injury

Kyrie Irving is averaging 23.7 points per game in his first season with the Boston Celtics but will be absent against the Chicago Bulls.

Celtics guard Kyrie Irving ruled out of Bulls game

Boston, December 12: Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving will miss Monday's game against the Chicago Bulls with a left quadriceps contusion, it has been confirmed.

Irving was held to 16 points in Boston's win at the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, well below his season average of 23.7. He went scoreless in seven minutes of action in the fourth quarter.

The Celtics (23-5) are contending with a couple of injury concerns as they face the hapless Bulls (5-20). Forward Marcus Morris will miss his second straight game with a left knee issue, and forward Al Horford is listed as questionable with a knee contusion.

Irving has missed only one other game in his first season with the Celtics, on November 12 after suffering a fractured bone in his face in the previous outing.
