Lack of bite does not worry Madrid coach Schuster

By Staff

ATHENS, Nov 7 (Reuters) Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster remains unconcerned by his side's lack of bite in front of goal after they were held to a scoreless draw in their Champions League Group C match against Olympiakos.

Real yesterday dominated, producing 12 clear chances, but were denied by a combination of brilliant goalkeeping by Antonis Nikopolidis and the woodwork.

''We were in total control in a very difficult match. Every minute, we were expecting a goal to come but our possession didn't translate into goals,'' the German told reporters.

''I am not worried about our lack of finishing. We made many chances, hit the woodwork twice and the Olympiakos goalkeeper made some good saves.'' Real, who remain top of the group on eight points, three more than Olympiakos and Lazio, went into the game without rested defender Christoph Metzelder and midfielder Guti, who strained a hamstring in a 2-0 defeat at Sevilla on Saturday.

''There were times when I was longing for Guti's presence on the pitch,'' Schuster admitted.

Midfielder Wesley Sneijder, however, who was Real's best player on the night lamented their failure to score.

''We had a lot of chances, especially in the first half and we should have scored at least one goal,'' the Dutchman told uefa.com ''We have to be calm. We know we have to win one of our remaining two games and everybody is thinking now about the next game away in Bremen. I think we have good chances there.'' REUTERS RAR PK RAI1733
