Lahiri opens up nine-shot lead in Q-School

Gurgaon, July 27 (UNI) Continuing his good run Anirban Lahiri registered his third successive sub-par round with the help of three birdies in the last six holes to further his lead in the PGTI Qualifying School's Final Stage here today.

The 20-year-old Lahiri, part of the Indian team at the Doha Asian Games last December, brought in a two-under 70 to aggregate seven-under 209 after three rounds.

Meanwhile, the amateurs continued to hold sway as they occupied top three places. Lahiri was leading the pack with nine shots ahead of two other amateurs Ranjit Singh (76), winner of Stage II and Raj Randhawa (76), winner of Stage II, were both at two-over 218 and in tied second place.

Feroze Ali Mollah continued to languished fourth while Bangladesh duo of Matloob Rana and Mohd Siddiquir Rahman were tied fifth, with M Dharma lying sixth, while four players including Drew Edwin Dubberlin, Sheeraz Kalra, Devendra Patel and Chia ao Hsu were tied for eighth.
