Lahiri starts favourite at LG Amateur golf
Greater Noida, July 30 (UNI) Doha Asian Games silver medallist Anirban Lahiri starts as firm favourite for the LG Amateur Golf Championship, which commences at the par-72 Jaypee Greens here tomorrow.
The event forms part of the fifth leg of the LG Indian amateur golf tour. Lahiri who clinched the final stage of the PGTI Tour's Qualifying School, will be playing his second last event on the Indian Amateur Golf Tour before he turns pro in October.
Apart from Lahiri, the event will witness the likes of LG Noida Open champion Manav Das, three-time Sri Lankan Open winner Simarjeet Singh, who is currently placed on No. 2 in the Indian Amateur Golf Tour merit list, third ranked amateur Jasjeet Singh, will be seen.
Dubai's Shezad Lakdawala, Bayhan Lakdawala and Andy Andrews and Sri Lankan duo of Mithun Perera and All India amateur champion K Prabagaran will add foreign flavour to the fifth event on the Indian Amateur Golf Tour.
Bangalore's Chikkarangappa who finished third in the Nomura Cup trials, Jaipur's Amanjyot Singh who finished tied fifth at the Eagleton Amateur Golf and Ajeetesh Sandhu fresh from his second placed finish at the Noida Open will give serious competition to the seasoned amateurs.
