Lakers Exercise Caution With LeBron James Following Absence In Pelicans Victory

LeBron James missed the Lakers' recent victory over the Pelicans due to precautionary measures. Coach JJ Redick emphasised careful management of his workload as he recovers from sciatica.

LeBron James was absent from the Los Angeles Lakers' win against the New Orleans Pelicans as a precautionary measure, according to coach JJ Redick. The Lakers secured a 133-121 victory at Crypto.com Arena, marking their seventh consecutive win. James, who had missed the preseason and the first 14 games due to sciatica, returned on November 18 and averaged 16.5 points, 8.3 assists, and 5.0 rebounds over four games.

Redick explained that the team is carefully managing James' workload since he is not yet ready for consecutive games. The Lakers are scheduled to face the Phoenix Suns next, and there is hope that James will soon be able to participate in back-to-back matches. "We're going to build him up, hopefully, to be able to play in back-to-backs," Redick stated.

Lakers Cautious with LeBron James' Return

The coach highlighted that James' current situation is similar to past injuries they've managed. Before the game against New Orleans, Redick noted that this period has essentially served as James' training camp over the last ten days. This cautious approach aims to ensure his full recovery and readiness for future games.

James' absence on Sunday was part of a strategic decision by the Lakers. They aim to gradually increase his playing time without risking further injury. "Every back-to-back is a case-by-case," Redick mentioned, emphasizing the importance of adapting to each situation in the NBA.

Despite missing recent games, there is optimism about James' return against the Suns. Redick remains hopeful about his ability to play more consistently soon. "That's the goal," he said regarding James playing in successive games. Both James and the team are working towards this objective.

The Lakers are focused on ensuring their star player can contribute effectively without compromising his health. As they continue their winning streak, managing James' condition remains a priority for sustained success throughout the season.
